The Northern Cape’s Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development has benevolently aided our existence to date:
Procurement of pig feeds to the tune of R149 000 in 2010 barely a year after Chikaina Piggeries was found. And in 2014, the Department utilised its Illima/letsema towards the:
Construction of fence and 3 pig houses- R 3 589 938.90
Procurement of pig feeds -R 216611.8
Installation of solar pump – R 72 714.83
In further bolstering our venture through the Illima Letsema Fund in 2015, the Department allocated:
Procurement of pig feeds- R199 999.99
Electricity connection- R29 681.20
Procurement of slurry tanker and a tractor- 808 302.96
We trust that we would be able to secure continued financial assistance and attract more partnerships in our endeavour of constructing our own abattoir and ensuring that we get counted in as key players in the pork processing industry and the attainment of food security.
